“If You Love Me...”
John 14:15

I. Introduction

A) If you love some one

  • You will want to do what they want to do or what they want you to do.
  • Jesus says here in John 14:15... “ If ye love me, keep my commandments.
  • If you love your wife/husband, do as they command.
  • If you love your pastor you will do as he commands or asks.
  • If you love your church you will follow its “By-laws and Constitution”
  • I Peter 2:17 ... Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

II. You Will Have Things In Common

A) Things you do are alike

  • When people fall in love with one another it is because they have many things in common (the same likes).
  • Philippians 3:15... Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.”
  • If some one is faking their love or like mind to us... God will reveal (show) it to us.
  • God will reveal the “fakers” (false Christians) Read John 13:10,11
  • Philippians 2:2... Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
  • When you want joy in a marriage or relationship, you will have the same love and you will be of one mind.

B) And you will grow together alike

  • The older you get in marriage to one person, the more like them you will be.
  • The longer your relationship with Christ... the more like Him you should be!

III. You Will Believe In Me

A) Love creates belief

  • John 11:26... If you believe in Jesus you will never die
  • II Chronicles 20:20b... if you believe in the LORD you will be established (set upon a firm foundation that will not fall);
  • It also says here that if we believe his prophets, we will prosper (be successful).

B) Believing is more than saying so

  • Romans 10:9,10
  • With our mouth we must confess...
  • With our heart we must believe...

IV. You Will Keep My Words

A) Keep means to obeyf

  • Back in our text John 14...read verse 23...
  • If we love Him...we will obey His word.
  • What is “His word”? The Bible, the things written in the Bible

B) What are some words that we should keep?

  • The Ten Commandments
  • Love the brotherhood (Brothers and sisters in Christ)If we love God we will love His people. (I John 3:14) we should want to fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, THIS MEANS OTHER CHURCHES OF LIKE FAITH!
  • This is why I am trying to encourage you to want to fellowship with the people at Countryside Baptist Deaf Church, and Liberty Baptist Deaf Church and the other hearing churches!
  • If you don't love your brothers and sisters in Christ enough to fellowship with them you are dead...according to I John 3:14
  • Are you a deaf church or dead church?
  • Love the Church... If we love Jesus we should want to be part of His body by joining the local New Testament Church (Ephesians 5:29)
  • Name some other commandments or words that we are to keep...
